Research. Not advice, and never your money.
Using this site means accepting what follows. It is short, and the first two sections are the ones that matter.
1. Nothing here is investment advice
Cryptolean publishes research. Nothing on this site is investment, financial, legal or tax advice, a recommendation to buy or sell any asset, a solicitation, or a personal recommendation of any kind. We are not a licensed adviser or broker and do not provide a regulated service.
The risk metric is a relative measure: it says how extended an asset is against its own history, on a 0 to 1 scale. It is not a probability, a price target or a signal. A reading near 1 has persisted for months in the past, and a reading near 0 has been followed by further falls. Both the definition and its documented failure modes are published on the about page because you are expected to judge the method rather than take the number on trust.
Crypto-asset prices are volatile and you can lose everything you put in. Any decision you make after reading this site is yours alone.
2. We never hold your money or your assets
Cryptolean does not custody funds and has no facility to. There is no wallet, no deposit, no withdrawal and no account holding value. We do not execute, route or match orders, and we do not connect you to a venue.
If anything ever asks you to deposit funds or connect a wallet while presenting itself as Cryptolean, it is not us. That will not change: not custodying is a permanent property of what this is, not a stage it is at.
3. No paid placement, ever
No venue, issuer, protocol or asset can pay to appear on this site, to be ranked higher, to be scored better or to be omitted. There is no affiliate revenue, no referral arrangement and no sponsored content. The settlement-trust scores in particular are the most monetisable measurement here, and the ability to buy a position on them would make them worth nothing.
4. Data, timing and accuracy
Every series is a daily close drawn from free public sources and cached before processing. It lags the market by hours. Nothing here is real-time and nothing here should be relied on as though it were.
Data comes from third parties and can be wrong, late or missing. Where a source has a gap the chart shows a gap rather than an interpolation. Where a filter removes observations, the chart says which filter and how many.
Metric definitions change. When one does, the version string changes with it and every historical value drawn from that definition changes too. Every such change is recorded, dated and explained in the transparency notice. The site is provided on the basis that you can check this rather than on a promise that it never happens.
5. Availability and warranty
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including as to accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability. Charts, metrics and pages may change or be withdrawn without notice.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss — trading losses in particular — arising from use of, or reliance on, anything published here. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
6. Acceptable use
- Read, cite, quote and link freely. Attribution to Cryptolean with a link is appreciated and expected for a chart or figure.
- Do not present our figures as your own data, and do not restate a number without the version stamp and date it was published with — the stamp is what makes it checkable.
- Do not attempt to interfere with the site or the systems serving it.
- Bulk or automated collection of the underlying data is a licensing question rather than a prohibition: it is a product, and the terms are on the direct access page.
7. Paid plans
Where a plan is purchased, the price, billing period and what it unlocks are as stated on the pricing page, which is the only place our prices exist. Annual billing is two months free and carries no other difference. Payment processing, when it exists, is handled by a third-party processor and card details are never held by us.
The free tier is permanent rather than a trial, and a lapsed subscription returns to it rather than locking you out of what was always free.
8. Intellectual property
The text, design, metric definitions and code of this site are ours. The underlying market data is not, and belongs to the sources it is drawn from; our figures are derived works over that data.
9. Who these terms are with
No operating company is named here yet. Cryptolean is not currently run through a registered entity, so there is no company name, registered address or chosen governing law to state — and inventing any of the three would make this document misleading as well as unenforceable. This paragraph is replaced with the real details the day an entity exists. Until then, treat everything here as the terms on which the site is offered rather than as a contract with a company.
Questions about anything above go to the address on the contact page. Related: privacy and cookies.
10. Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the “last updated” date at the top moves. A change that materially affects a paying subscriber is notified by email rather than left to be discovered.
